{"id":7184,"date":"2022-05-15T14:16:34","date_gmt":"2022-05-15T13:16:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.caffrenchwing.fr\/?p=7184"},"modified":"2022-05-17T14:19:24","modified_gmt":"2022-05-17T13:19:24","slug":"persan-beaumont","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.caffrenchwing.fr\/en\/2022\/05\/15\/persan-beaumont\/","title":{"rendered":"Persan-Beaumont"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The history of Persan-Beaumont airfield dates back to 1914.<\/p>\n<p><strong>World War I<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What was only a \"field for aircraft\"\u00a0 hosted <span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"fr\" data-phrase-index=\"0\" data-number-of-phrases=\"1\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">throughout the war<\/span><\/span><\/span> different Flights of the French Army Air Corps. Right, todays map. https:\/\/www.ign.fr\/<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>World War II<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The installation of a military airfield dedicated to Paris air defence sector is decided in the thirties ; then it is used by different units of the new-born French Air Force, til the beginning of WWII. <span lang=\"en-US\">After bombing the place, the German Lufwaffe then occupied it from September, 1940 to June, 1944, as \u00ab Flugplatz Beaumont \u00bb. The Luftwaffe equipped the airfield, building two hard runways, ans dispersal areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>386 Bomb Group<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span lang=\"en-US\">After bombing the airfield, the Allies then occupied it in turn, under the code name of AAF Station A-60. A-26 (RU-S, serial number 43-22366) is visible on the left. https:\/\/www.americanairmuseum.com\/media\/1895<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>410 Bomb Group<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Later on, in a reverse move, from May 17 to June, 1945 the airfield shortly hosted A-20 Havocs of 410th <span lang=\"en-US\">Bombardment Group (Light) <\/span>. The group was coming from AAF-68 Juvincourt, near Rheims,\u00a0 before returning back to the USA and being decommissionned on November 1945. One can The two hard strips are clearly visible, as the dispersal taxiways, converted today as town streets,https:\/\/www.ign.fr\/<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The airfield will then be used as \"Base a\u00e9rienne 218\" by the French Air Force, while keeping civilian activities like leisure flights and aerobatics.
